Carla J. Nelson

Carla J. Nelson, 90, of Branson, Missouri, formally of York, Nebraska, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri.
Carla was born June 17, 1935, to Carl and Louise Granzow in Eldora. She grew up on a farm just outside town and graduated from Eldora High School. Carla worked for a magazine company in Des Moines and loved traveling abroad including a trip to Cuba. She married Elroy J. Nelson of Oakland, Nebraska, May 7, 1961, where they then moved to York, Nebraska. Carla was very active in many charities in York including York General Hospital Auxiliary and Red Cross Blood Mobile. Her true love was playing Bridge with her many friends and bowling on Monday nights. In April of 2012, Elroy and Carla moved to Branson, Missouri, to retire.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Stacey (Brian) Troutman of Stromsburg, Nebraska and Eric (Leeanda) Nelson of Clearwater, Florida; six grandchildren: Keith Troutman of Seward, Nebraska, Sarah (Carl) Engler of Silver Creek, Nebraska, Ben Troutman of Seward Nebraska, Erin (Loren) Busboom of Hastings, Nebraska, Kara (Whitt) Luker of Birmingham, Alabama, and Piper (Matthew) Seiter of Bonanza, Arkansas; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws: Polly Granzow and Susan Granzow of Eldora, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jerry Short of Branson, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Carla was proceeded in death by her parents: Carl and Louise Granzow; husband, Elroy Nelson; sister, Barbara Short; and brothers: David and Dennis Granzow.
Carla chose to participate in the Genesis Body Donation program so there will be no service at this time. There will be a private service for family at time of inurnment.
