Anne Lindsey Wiesner

Anne Lindsey Wiesner, age 100, passed away at the Eldora Care Center on April 18, 2023. Anne was born at home during a blizzard on Jan. 31, 1923, to Cecil (Lindsey) and Luther R. Wilson in Chisholm, Minn. Anne attended the Chisholm school system and went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in June 1946. During Anne’s youth she enjoyed ice-skating, skiing, swimming and beating the boys at the July 4 bicycle races. In adulthood she continued athletic activities and listened to classical music and read her Louie L More westerns. Anne was well known for her listening skills and giving you options.

She was married to Edward J. Wiesner on Sept 8, 1946. During her life in Eldora, she led girl scouts, participated in Business and Professional Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and as an associate of the Sisters of Mercy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After working for 35 years at the State Training School she spent her winters in Rockport, Texas.

Anne is survived by her son, Edward J (Linda) of Mascoutah, Ill., daughters, Cammie Annis (Waterloo) Callie (Eldora) and Cindy (Mike) Yantis, Pocatello, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; siblings Ralph and Callie; son-in-law, N. S. "Hap" Annis and granddaughter-in-law, Abbie Annis.

A Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. April 28, in Eldora at Creps Abels funeral home. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. April 29, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eldora. Memorials may be given to the Eldora Ambulance Service.
