Amy Haas-Gray

Amy Haas-Gray, 66, of Eldora, passed away from cancer at the Israel Hospice House in Ames Nov. 12, 2025 with her husband of 24 years, Brian, by her side. A celebration of life will take place Dec. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Dorothy's Senior Center in Eldora for family and friends. 

Amy was born to Kurt and Nancy (McAtee) Haas in Corning, California June 16, 1959. Her family lived in several towns in Iowa and West Bend, Wisconsin. Before settling in Eldora in 1975 where she graduated high school in 1977. She worked at Dayco Industry for 24 years until the plant closed. She met and married Brian Gray from Zearing in 2001. She worked for a while with her husband in his painting business, Grayís Painting and Tree Service.

Amy loved animals from a young age. In later years she became a vegan and an advocate for the animals and environment. She started H.E.A.R.T. (Hardin Eldora Animal Rescue Team). For 15 years with a small group of friends she helped thousands of animals. 

Amy especially loved cats. Mudgie, Sealie, Smooshie and Marshall her paraplegic rescue cat held a special place in her heart.

Amy is survived by her loving husband Brian; brother Allen; three step-children: Michaela, Zachary and Maliya; three step-grandchildren: Kendal, Thomas and Jadden; one niece, Alexis; and three nephews: Jeffery, Austin and Kurt. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents and a long list of four-legged furry friends waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.
