BOYS GOLF: AGWSR 178, Denver 181, Sumner-Fredericksburg 181
Eli Kuper led the Cougars on Thursday with an individual score of 42, followed by Gabe Nederhoff with a 43, Trace Etten a 45 and Easton Kerns a 48.
“I thought for the conditions we faced that we played pretty well,” coach Ryley Schipper said. “Denver is one of the tougher courses we will play and with the wind and greens being fast we managed the course the best we could! Still have to eliminate some of the big holes by choosing to hit the smart shot instead of trying to hit the great shot.”

GRUNDY CENTER - AGWSR girls golf were on the road Tuesday against Grundy Center and Oelwein, coming in third against the two highly competitive teams.
“It was a great night for golf and we definitely had a challenge ahead of us,” coach Stacy Drake said. “Both these teams are going to go far this year so the girls main challenge was to not get in their own heads and still play their own game.”

CONRAD - BCLUW golf welcomed six teams for a nine-hole co-ed meet at Oakwood Golf Course on Tuesday, finishing two strokes behind champion Roland-Story.
The Comets were led by seniors Sydney Anderson and Bodie Butler with a score of 42, good for third overall. The other senior duo of Lindsay Beeghly and Mason Martin carded 43, while sophomores Leah McEwen and Zaden Eggers carded a 47, and sophomore Nate Bishop and junior Delaney Legg rounded out the team score with a 50.

BCLUW fifth, AGWSR eighth at Pirate Relays

HUDSON - AGWSR and BCLUW boys track and field shrugged off the rain Thursday at the Pirate Relays to each put up winning events amid 19 teams competing.

BCLUW sophomore Zaden Egger was the Medalist, carding a 34. BCLUW senior Mason Martin was Runner-up with a 35. The Comets rounded out their team score with senior Bodie Butler carding a 41 and freshman Beau Towne a 45.
The Cougars were led by senior Gabe Nederhoff with a 39. Junior Easton Kerns carded a 43, sophomore Lane Rose a 45 and sophomore Tyler Nederhoff a 45.

Veld qualifies for Drake Relays in discus

BAXTER - AGWSR’s Abby Veld had been working on her discus throw, but never expected the results to bloom early.
The senior threw discus for 135 feet and 11 inches at the Baxter Relays on Thursday to automatically qualify for the Drake Relays later this month, Veld’s first time qualifying for this event.
“I really worked hard at it, but was I expecting it? No,” Veld said. “But it's just an amazing feeling to make it back down to Drake this year.”
