Winter, Fisher garner golds at Comet Invite

 

UNION- Kolby Winter of South Hardin and Aubrie Fisher of Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR reached the finish line first during Saturday’s running of the Comet Cross Country Invitational on the South Hardin Rec Area Golf Course.

Winter earned his first gold medal with a dominating performance. The junior bettered the 67-runner field by 24-seconds with a time of 17:38.

Second was Jackson Edens of GM-Garwin, who finished first at the Pine Lake Run followed by Winter second – 17-seconds back.

Fisher posted her fourth top five placing this fall, toppling a cast of 52-runners with a clocking of 20:36. The senior was second last season and fourth two years ago. Second was teammate Ellie Meyer 27-seconds back at 21:03 and 31-seconds ahead of third.

The South Hardin boys were second in the team race to Benton Community, state-ranked in Class 3A, by a narrow two points. Benton with the five counters in the top 17, scored 57 points to the Tigers’ 59.
