Two champs crowned at Cougar Invite

 

ACKLEY- AGWSR’s Zach Johnson and Trey Lashbrook were crowned champions at the Cougar Wrestling Invitational here Saturday.

Both Johnson at 113-pounds and state-ranked 120-pounder Trey Lashbrook posted a pair of convincing wins for the gold medal.

Johnson combined a quick 29-second fall over Belle Plaine’s Behounsk with an 18-7 major decision over Tarren Cunningham of Mason City Newman.

Lashbrook scored a 16-0 technical fall over Drew Wilder of Northwood-Kensett and pinned Newman’s Cade Hanson in 5:23. Lashbrook is fifth-ranked at 120 in Class 1A and stands 32-1 with a 19-1 record on Saturdays.

Ali Gerbracht added a runner-up placing at 106-pounds with Brody Roder at 152 and Dayton Haley at 170 third, Cale Culver fourth at 160, Seth Mazoway fifth at 126 and Robert Meinders sixth at 145.
