Tigers turn back Cadets

IOWA FALLS- Garrison Tripp’s late three-point goal proved to be the difference as the South Hardin boys’ basketball team turned back Iowa Falls-Alden, 66-65 here Monday (Jan. 13) in an exciting non-conference contest.

Knotted 63-all, Tripp tickled the twine from the top of the key for three with 13-seconds remaining. The junior guard noted both defenders backed off, giving him an open look and he knew is was good when it left his hands.

“We knew they would make it a game and we just needed to relax. Garrison stepped up and knocked down a big shot,” said South Hardin coach Nathan Gevelinger.

The Tigers then called timeout and survived a wild finish. South Hardin quickly fouled Karson Sharar, who made both free throws with 9.6-ticks showing. The Tigers threw away the ensuing in-bounds pass, giving IF-A a final look. The Cadets missed two potential game-winning shots before the clock reached zero.
