Tigers capture Pine Lake Run crown

 

ELDORA- Big things are expected out of the South Hardin boys’ cross country team this fall and expectations just grew after winning the Pine Lake Run here Thursday.

The Tigers defended their home turf – the challenging Pine Lake Country Club Golf Course and proved the lofty state ranking, scoring a five-runner 59 points.

Three runners in the top 10 fueled sixth-ranked in Class 2A South Hardin to the 17-point cushion over runner-up Dike-New Hartford at 76 points with Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck third in the nine-team field at 90.

Kolby Winter led the Tigers’ scorecard taking second and hit the finish line a step ahead of BCLUW’s Caleb Silver and Grundy Center/G-R’s Derek Ciddio. Winter’s clocking was 18:37 followed by Silver third at 18:39 and Ciddio 18:40.

Alex Hassan was second for South Hardin and sixth overall at 18:53 with Jacob Vander Wilt eighth in 19:18. The fourth and fifth runners were Justin Meints 21st at 20:22 and Gavin Roy 22nd at 20:31 in the 70-runner field.
