Three Tigers in 5 events advance to state

DIKE- Three automatic qualifiers and two at-large berths advanced to the state track & field meet for the South Hardin girls and boys from a Class 2A state qualifying meet here Thursday.

Juniors Brylie Zeisneiss and Zakee Newman qualified in two events each along with one for sophomore Justin Meints.

Zeisneiss claimed two of the three automatic berths, finishing first in both the shot put and discus for the South Hardin girls.

Zeisneiss was never challenged in either event, first winning the shot put by over five-feet at 42-feet 11 1/2-inches, and then sailed the discus 139-feet 7-inches to better the field by over 29-feet. Runner-up distances were 37-5 1/2 in the shot and 110-3 in the discus.

“The goal tonight was to get to state and she accomplished that,” said South Hardin coach Mike Olson.

Newman qualified for the 3200 meter run at Thursday’s state qualifier and Friday advanced in the 1600 meters along with Meints in the 800 open through at-large berths.
