Storm wrestlers 1-2 at Quad

CONRAD- The South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling team salvaged a 1-2 showing at the Storm Quadrangular with a come-from-behind win over Hudson here Thursday.

The Storm rallied to defeat the Pirates, 40-39 after losses to Oelwein, 55-18 and Southeast Polk JV, 60-24.

SH-BCLUW scored 18 of the final 24 points against Hudson to erase a 33-22 deficit and win by one. Michael Fuller (182 pounds) posted a pin in 3:35 after fighting off his back in the first period to pull the hosts within 39-34 and then Lucas Gunderson (195) closed the dual with a forfeit. Kade Pekarek (160) sparked the rally with a fall in 1:49.

“Hudson is a team that beat us earlier in the year so it was nice to get some revenge. It was a good meet for both teams with a bunch of hard fought matches,” said SH-BCLUW co-head coach Mike Olson.

The Pirates defeated the Storm (6-12 in duals) 52-30 back in the season opener.

Brayan Ralston (132) added a fall for the Storm in 3:23, Logan Aicher (145) scored a 16-8 major decision, and Carter Kolthoff (106) and Taylor Kolthoff (120) received forfeits.
