South Hardin girls ousted

 

DENVER- The tournament trail was once again a one-and-done for the South Hardin girls’ basketball team.

For a fifth consecutive season the Tigers were eliminated in the opening round, this time losing to Denver, 65-23 here Saturday during a Class 2A regional first-round contest.

The outcome was decided early as the host Cyclones roared to a commanding 24-5 lead after one quarter. After a bucket by the Tigers’ Cora Frohwein made it 3-2, Denver uncorked 17 unanswered points with numerous buckets coming off a full-court press.

The Cyclones took a 40-11 cushion into halftime and led 59-16 through three.

South Hardin made just four baskets in the opening 16 minutes and three were three-point goals. For the game the Tigers had nine field goals and five were threes.
