New Providence approves first liquor license

History was made this month in New Providence, as the town approved the sale of alcoholic beverages for the first time.

According to local history, in 1882 the community of 250 people voted on whether or not to allow a saloon in the town, with all but two votes going against it. Since then, there has been a presumption that alcohol sales were not legal in the town.
