New area mental health service

In the latest of a series of announcements about new initiatives, Grand JiVante’ has added a mental health counselor to its staff.

A recent release says TaLana Holman, a licensed mental health counselor, has joined the Ackley-based organization.

Holman holds a masters of science in psychology with an emphasis in addiction and a master’s of science in clinical mental health counseling from Drake University.

She has over 13 years with children and families struggling with behavioral issues and trauma in residential, community, and in-home settings. She has also worked in a domestic violence shelter and has experience with both adolescents and adults in the criminal justice system. She has also worked with drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction, traumatic brain injuries, counseling the elderly population, play therapy, and is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
