Local women introduce girls to science and engineering

Coming to you from the Girls in Science festival earlier last month – some area folks travelled to Des Moines with their science resumes to play a part in a Science Center of Iowa campaign designed to enlist girls in careers that are technology based.

Featured on the bill were some local employees from the Flint Hills Resources Iowa Falls ethanol plant. Holly James of Eldora, was joined by Ellen Flickinger and Rachel Neely – both of Iowa Falls – at the 8th annual festival.

The expo was held at the Science Center of Iowa in mid February. The Girls in Science Festival brings together STEM - science, technology, engineering and math – professionals from across the state to educate and mentor students, especially girls, to encourage them to get interested in and potentially pursue STEM careers.
