Lashbrook bronze medalist

DES MOINES- A bronze medal capped an impressive three-day run by AGWSR sophomore Trey Lashbrook at the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament inside Wells Fargo Arena here Saturday.

Lashbrook captured third place at 120-pounds in Class 1A going 4-1 and ended the season with a lofty 44-3 win-loss mark.

Lashbrook, the weight’s fourth-seed, battled back to beat third-seeded Casey Baker, a senior, of Interstate 35 for third. Lashbrook scored the bout’s final three points with an escape and then takedown in the third period after trailing 6-4 through two. The pair were knotted four-all after two-minutes.

“He’s a very strong kid that stayed in good position at all times, so I focused on staying in better position than he was,” said Lashbrook on Baker.

Lashbrook’s first match Saturday finished a 5-0 decision over another senior Blaine Beeler of ACGC.
