Keeping the tradition alive: Firefighting through generations

After 27 years as a volunteer firefighter, it’s safe to say that firefighting has become a big part of Scott Eisentrager’s life. As the Fire Chief of Iowa Falls, his office at his full-time job at Carsten’s Plumbing and Heating is adorned with firefighter memorabilia that instantly conveys how important the job is to him.

Serving the Iowa Falls and Hardin Township, the Iowa Falls Fire Department generally handles about 120 calls a year of various emergencies, though this year, Eisentrager says, has been uncharacteristically light, with only about 60 calls going into October.
