AREA – It is a several-steps -back-in-time kind of business, and not long ago a bunch of youngsters in the E–NP Bearcat 4-H club stepped back to glimpse the amazing skills which need to come together to build settlement-era log cabin.

As it turns out, one of the few shops anywhere in Iowa that can either build you a brand new naturally-hewn and authentic log cabin – or repair an existing one – is to be found not far south of New Providence. 

Heritage Woodworks has been in the business of building log cabins, a tree trunk at a time, for about two years. Before that, for about a decade Phil Grossmann and his wife Tracy had been in the vintage furniture business.(Read it all in the Friday Index)
