HARDIN COUNTY— The dog of a Union man has been named to the 2016 Animal Hall of Fame.

Cally, is an eight year old Malinois owned by Ken and Pauline Lloyd of Union, and joined two other animals in the honor. Ken is a paralyzed veteran who has teamed with the dog to open up a lot of possibilities for himself.

The Iowa Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) and Merck Animal Health honored three extraordinary animals with 2016 Animal Hall of Fame awards for their bravery, companionship and professional contributions to people and the community.  Fifty-eight animals from across Iowa have been inducted into the Animal Hall of Fame since its inception 19 years ago, including dogs, cats and horses.  The awards were given in three categories, Companion, Hero and Professional.
