Great day for Storm's Taylor Kolthoff

 

PARKERSBURG- A conference crown and 100th career win made for a memorable day for junior Taylor Kolthoff of the South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling team during the North Iowa Cedar League Meet here Saturday.

Kolthoff captured the 120-pound gold medal after a hair-raising semi-final victory earned him the milestone victory.

Kolthoff opened the bracket’s third seed and upset two state-ranked opponents to stand a top the podium. Kolthoff dominated Denver’s Jacob Moore in the finals, posting a 14-2 win after he edged Trey Lashbrook of AGWSR, 3-2 in the semi-finals. Kolthoff scored a reversal at the 1:04 mark of the third period to edge Lashbrook. Against Moore, Kolthoff led 5-0 after one period with a takedown and three-point nearfall and never let up. Moore is fourth-ranked in Class 1A and Lashbrook fifth.

Kolthoff, now a lofty 33-3, opened the tourney with a quarterfinal pin over West Marshall’s Jacob Vawter in 2:25.
