Great day for area runners at Comet Invite

 

UNION- Medals galore were garnered by area runners at the Comet Invitational here Saturday.

The South Hardin, BCLUW and Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR girls’ and boys’ cross country teams combined for two team titles and 14 individual medal placings. The top 15 individuals medaled.

The South Hardin boys and IF-A/AGWSR girls claimed the team crowns.

The second-ranked in Class 2A Tigers placed all five scoring runners in the top 10 of the 55-harrier field and posted a second first placing in four meets. South Hardin’s winning tally was 31 points with runner-up East Marshall back at 84 in the eight-team field.

IF-A/AGWSR edged East Marshall for the girls’ title, 49 points to 51. The Cadets placed three runners in the first five.

Senior Kolby Winter of South Hardin and IF-A/AGWSR junior Ellie Meyer, both state-ranked individuals, cruised to the gold medals.
