Cougars coast to win over NI

ACKLEY- A lopsided 56-19 victory tipped-off the post-season for the AGWSR girls’ basketball team here Saturday.

The No. 14 in Class 1A Cougars crushed North Iowa by 37 points in the first-round regional contest.

The game was all AGWSR from the get-go, racing to leads of 17-4 after one quarter and to 35-8 at halftime behind an 18-4 second.

Sophomore Grace Finger fueled the Cougars’ quick start, scoring nine of her game-high 15 points in the first period. Makenna Kuper then took the scoring torch in the second with seven of her dozen points.
