Comets defeated GM-G, C-N

 

CONRAD- The win total doubled for the BCLUW boys’ basketball team, beating Green Mountain-Garwin and Colo-NESCO over a three-day span.

Offense fueled the Comets over GM-Garwin, 81-71 here Saturday while defense was the driving force in a 45-26 victory Monday.

The two wins improved BCLUW to 4-10 overall.

The Comets started strong against Colo-NESCO, scoring the contest’s first 11 points, but could not shake the visitors until late. The Royals followed BCLUW’s 11-0 run with seven straight points to pull within 11-7 early in the second period and then down 23-15 at intermission, C-N was again within four, hitting the first two baskets of the third.

BCLUW met the challenge with 13 unanswered points – the final eight of the third quarter for a 31-19 advantage and the first five of the fourth as the Royals nearly went eight-minutes stuck on 19. Jack Garber, Jonny Neff and Mason Yantis all tallied four points during the run.
