Best beard

WHITTEN – By most accounts the biblical Moses was a whole lot  more stern than the man who played him at the Iowa State Fair last week. The Moses with the big grin appeared during the fair’s annual contest to pick out the best and  most creative beards in the state.

Moses’ was the award for the most ‘historically significant’ set of whiskers.

And behind them you had Stan Moberg Sr. of Whitten walking away with the top prize.

Moberg played Moses this year, and of course that meant coming in full costume, and that meant coming with a biblical-size  beard.

He is experienced at this sort of thing. Moberg is a retired long haul trucker who lives a couple of miles northeast of Whitten now.
