BCLUW girls sharp in win over AGWSR

CONRAD- Down the team’s senior leader, the BCLUW girls’ basketball squad served notice they still plan to play, and play they did, beating AGWSR, 47-43 during North Iowa Cedar League West Conference play here Thursday.

The Comets coupled a 21-point second quarter with clutch late game points to derail the co-conference leading Cougars.

“It was a total team effort,” stated BCLUW coach David Lee. “We had several girls step up and make plays. Chloe (Walters) did a nice job working inside and getting some points. And Payton (Pekarek) made two threes that were big, they came at key times.”

BCLUW will be without the service of all-conference cager Madison Ubben, who injured an ankle two games ago against Jesup and is currently in a cast.

The Comets outscored AGWSR, 21-13 in the second quarter to build a 29-22 lead, and then turned back the Cougars’ late rally.
