BCLUW downs A-P in four

CONRAD- The one-two punch of Easton Swanson and Jade Hammers lifted the BCLUW volleyball team over a feisty Aplington-Parkersburg 25-20, 15-25, 25-22, 27-25 in the regular season final for the Comets here Tuesday.

The two outside hitters combined for 30 kills with a match-high 16 for Swanson and 14 for Hammers. Hammers was 40-of-46 hitting and Swanson, among the kills leaders in Class 2A, was 36-of-41.

The Comets earned the season’s 24th match win against 11 losses despite a subpar performance.

“We didn’t play anywhere close to our best and to pull out the victory feels good,” stated BCLUW coach Kristen Garber.

“We should be playing our best right now, but tonight I’ll chalk it up to Senior Night and losing a little focus. We need to find the balance between fun and focus,” she added.

For the Comets, it was not how you start, but how you finish. The hosts rallied from early deficits to win both the first and fourth games.
