Area football teams learn schedules

ELDORA- With the spring sports season currently suspended and summer sports up-in-the-air, the schedules for the fall’s football season were released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association Thursday.

Teams across the state learned their schedule – home and away games and dates along with non-district opponents. District opponents were released in late February.

The South Hardin football team will tackle a highly-competitive nine-game schedule. The opponents combined for a 58-31 win-loss record last season, seven had winning campaigns and three were playoff qualifiers.

The first four Fridays – the non-district portion – starts with Iowa Falls-Alden August 28 in Eldora followed by Denver (Sept. 4) again in Eldora followed by road games at Grundy Center and North Tama (Traer).

“I’m pretty happy with it,” stated South Hardin head coach Nick Eller. “We got the teams we wanted. The only disappointing thing is we would have liked one more home game, but we have no control over that.”

The Tigers will have four home games and five away. After back-to-back home games to start the season, South Hardin will hit the road in five of the next seven weeks.
