Area Fatality

HARDIN COUNTY – An accident along Highway 20 in Hardin County  took the life of a Marshalltown man early Monday morning

Hardin County Sheriff’s office staff investigated a 6:30 a.m. October 29 accident at the 181-mile marker. The accident saw a Ford F-250 apparently struck a shoulder and then lose  control. Driver was Derek Williams, of Marshalltown with Dylan Langreck of West Union a passenger. The vehicle rolled and came to rest in the opposite lane of traffic. Mr. Williams was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, Mr. Langreck did not receive medical attention.

The Steamboat Rock Fire Department and the Ackley Fire department, assisted Hardin County Sheriffs office personnel, along with the Eldora Ambulance Service, the Ackley Ambulance Service and the Hardin County Emergency Squad and the state patrol.
