Area’s first of the year

It is as far as anyone can remember, a record arrival.  The first baby of 2020 within the 15 mile range around Eldora was born on January 1 at 6 a.m.

KayZen Houser arrived at seven pounds, 15 ounces and 21 inches to mom Katelyn Houser who lives in Hubbard. It was a very close call, but Hubbard (by Iowa’s road maps and by distance calculators on the Internet) puts KayZen in line for all the gifts from this year’s First Baby Contest.

KayZen is a record for the newspaper, as we had always thought the earliest of the first babies was one born on January 11.

KayZen was born at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
