Alliant proposes rate hikes

AREA – Alliant Energy announced to customers that it had filed proposed gas and electric rate increases with the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB). Notices went out this month to each customer with examples of how the increases would impact typical customer. The rate review process is a 10 month one including opportunities for public comment. The Iowa Utilities Board and its staff analyze the petition and the utilities board makes the final decision.

  An interim rate increase will nevertheless take effect April 1, but it is refunded if the final amount approved is a smaller amount.
