AGWSR girls suffer season first loss

ACKLEY- The season’s first setback was suffered by the AGWSR girls’ basketball team, losing 65-47 to West Marshall here Tuesday during a key North Iowa Cedar League West Conference clash.

The loss slipped the eighth-ranked in Class 1A Cougars into a first place tie at 6-1 with Grundy Center in the league and improved the Trojans to 5-2.

A second half offensive outburst propelled West Marshall. After a defensive-minded opening half that finish in favor of the Trojans 17-12, the visitors erupted for 48 points over the final 16-minutes. WM outscored the Cougars, 28-14 in the third quarter and opened a 45-26 advantage.
