AGWSR creates memorable summer

ACKLEY- The pre-season talk was the potential this AGWSR softball team possessed. The Cougars met the challenged and enjoyed a stellar summer.

AGWSR captured the North Iowa Cedar League West Conference crown for the first time in five years and capped the memorable campaign at the state tournament – ending runners-up in Class 1A.

The Cougars were back in the state show for the first time since winning 1A in 2015 and came up one-run short this time, losing a 1-0 heartbreaker to Collins-Maxwell in the championship contest. The Spartans scored the game winner in the bottom of the seventh inning.
